Israeli President Isaac Herzog honored Jewish-Moroccan political strategist André Azoulay with the Presidential Medal of Honor in recognition of his dedicated efforts to foster peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
Azoulay has demonstrated his commitment to promoting harmony between Jews and Muslims through various initiatives, including founding the NGO “Identité et Dialogue.”.
Throughout his career, Azoulay has championed Moroccan Jewish voices and advanced Morocco’s interests on the international stage. He serves as Senior Advisor to King Mohammed VI and previously held the position of Counsellor to King Hassan II for eight years, advising on economic and cultural matters.
His professional background includes a tenure at Paribas Bank from 1968 to 1990, where he was Executive Vice-President, focusing on the Middle East and North Africa region. In addition to his peace advocacy, Azoulay has actively supported cultural endeavors in his hometown of Essaouira.
